House District 13 News

HouseDistrict13mapHello District 13,

Colorado’s House District 13 area extends from the Wyoming border on the north, to Mount Evans in the south – from Boulder to Kremmling.  The district includes Jackson, Grand, Gilpin and Clear Creek counties, as well as the western portions of the City of Boulder and Boulder County. It is geographically larger than most districts; however, I am excited to meet all of HD-13’s residents to ensure that their voices are heard at the Capitol.

I have been hosting “town hall” meetings in my district throughout the session meeting many interesting and engaged constituents. Currently, I have scheduled a town hall meeting for Saturday, March 15, 10:00am-12:00pm at the Boulder City Council Chambers in Boulder. This town hall meeting will be held jointly with Senators Rollie Heath and Dickey Lee Hullinghorst. It is open to the public and I highly encourage those interested in what’s happening at the State Capitol to attend.

My priorities for the 2014 session are to help the members of the General Assembly address several key priorities: enhancing the economic security of all Coloradans, continuing recovery efforts from last year’s flood and fire disasters, and improving K-12 education as well as access to higher education in our state.

More than 350 bills have been introduced in the Colorado State Senate and House of Representatives, including one of my bills, HB 14-1047. This bill requires a person who publishes booking photographs or other basic identificaimagetion information on a publicly available commercial web site remove (upon request and without compensation) the booking photograph and basic identification information of a person who is not charged, whose charges are dismissed, or who is acquitted of the charges. This bill and several others are moving through various stages of the process, with one of my bills already on the Governor’s desk awaiting approval!

In addition, I have been assigned (by House Speaker Mark Ferrandino) to serve on the House Finance Committee and the House Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources Committee.

Please feel free to call me at (303) 866-2578, or drop by my office in Room 318 at the State Capitol.

Sincerely,
